"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations."
"Because God’s children are human beings—made of flesh and blood—the Son also became flesh and blood. For only as a human being could he die, and only by dying could he break the power of the devil, who had the power of death." Hebrews 2:14 NLT
Matthew 28:19 NIV

God required a living sacrifice for the forgiveness of the sins we inherited from Adam and Eve.  Throughout the Old Testament we are told of  the sin offerings that required blood to be shed.  But this was something temporary needing to be repeated whenever forgiveness was required.

When God sent His Son Jesus He became one of us except He remained sinless.  Jesus knew He would die blameless taking all the sins of the world upon His back so that His sacrifice would be final and we as Christians would have victory over death through Him.  This was His will and obedience to the will of the Father.   For us, Jesus     broke  the grip death had on us.  And only through Him, do we have eternity.

"Only in this way could he set free all who have lived their lives as slaves to the fear of dying." Hebrews 2:15 NLT
