God is so holy and righteous He has no option but to turn away and not listen when we are in a sin state.  But He has also made a way  that gives us the path to ask for forgiveness through Jesus (who paid for our sins on the cross with His death) if indeed we truly repent and turn away from what separates us from Him.

God knows our heart and is faithful to forgive us.  And we will again have fellowship with the Father.
